One of the goals of our technology program here at Center/Sylvester is to help students develop skills to utilize the tools available to them to be creative and productive. As they build these skills they often work from templates made for them. This assignment was designed to teach them to do it all on their own. Using the word processing program Pages, students learned to add various elements: text boxes, speech bubbles, frames, photos taken on the computer, and images from the Internet. They explored numerous formatting options for both graphics and text. They refined their search skills online to locate facts and images to enhance their projects.
